Was looking at one of those Harry Potter kids where are they now photo sites. One surprising photo make me think he could be a candidate for a new James Bond. Matthew Lewis, who played the awkward Neville Longbottom, has really filled out. Not sure how he is as an adult actor but I think he could be a possible candidate.

The whole Bond franchise is seeming rather tired. Until someone comes along who can figure out a way to wake it up again, I really have a hard time caring who the next James Bond is.

I thought Casino Royale was so good that the series was successfully re-ignited. Then they put out a stinker and a disappointment. James Bond is not for everybody.

The success with Daniel Craig is hard to deny. At the end of the day Bond movies will be judges by box office receipts. People certainly don't go for the education or story.

My thoughts exactly.

So more movies about the suave super spy romancing women and thwarting nefarious organizations just seems a little tired to me. The Bond movies haven't really changed all that much in over fifty years. Without a major revamp of some sort, I just don't see how this character has any legs left.

"Well, then, what would you do?"

Since you asked ...

Forget the movies. Make Bond the best new HBO series in 2022. Bite the bullet and make it a period piece. Set it in the early '60s where Bond belongs, at the height of the Cold War. But get rid of the cartoonish villains and femme fatales. Take a cue from Breaking Bad and The Sopranos. Make the bad guys if not sympathetic, at least understandable. Make them human beings and not cartoons.

To add to the fun, in the midst of every episode detailing Bond's latest mission (each of which would last an entire season, not an episode) I would flashback to Bond's childhood, showing how a working class orphan survived the mean streets in post-War Britain and became the world's great espionage agent.

Not going to happen. This is why: Spectre $879,620,923 Skyfall $1,110,526,981 Quantum of Solace $591,692,078 Casino Royale $594,420,283

Why would they re-invent the wheel with box office gold?

Henry Cavil should be the next Bond. It is a better role than Superman.

He'll be playing Geralt in the Witcher adaption.

I certainly hope you're not referring to Quantum of Solace, because that was a great film.
