We watched it earlier today on Paramount Plus. I was skeptical, but it was surprisingly good. I have not read the books but based on what I've read it's closer to the books than Fletch and Fletch Lives. There were moments when Hamm reminded me of Chevy Chase and Ryan Reynolds, but I never once thought he was imitating them. I chalk that up to being true to the books. I was impressed with Hamm.

Ha, I haven't seen the recent one yet, but I can "picture" the music from the original and understand what you mean.
