Famous for roles in films such as Kick-Ass and Avengers: Age Of Ultron, the 33-old actor is apparently yet to officially accept the iconic part, but a source told The Sun: "Bond is Aaron's job, should he wish to accept it."
The source added: "The formal offer is on the table and they are waiting to hear back."
Eon Productions, which produces the Bond films, is also said to be preparing to shoot a new 007 movie, with a script now being worked on.
The Sun's source added: "As far as Eon is concerned, Aaron is going to sign his contract in the coming days and they can start preparing for the big announcement."
Taylor-Johnson is "an incredibly talented actor," the source is also quoted as saying. They called him the "perfect person to play Bond and will pick up well from where Daniel Craig left off".
This franchise needs to be fridged for fifteen or twenty years.
I don't know that it needs to be fridged. But it definitely needs a heavy re-think. Do we really need suave, cold killer James Bond fighting SPECTRE with gadgets and tuxedoes? Again? We haven't seen enough of that? The premise doesn't just seem dated. It seems downright dusty. But ...
I thought much the same thing 25 years ago, and then CASINO ROYALE came out and proved to be arguably the best film in the franchise. I'd love to be proved wrong again.
Honestly, if I were in charge, I would ditch the whole aim of trying to make Bond appeal to "modern audiences" (whatever those may be). Go back to basics. Make this a period piece. Set the story back in the '60s at the height of the Cold War. Just like the original Bond counseled:

I love Casino Royale, too, and then they hit paydirt again with Skyfall, mostly thanks to Javier Bardem. But the others I place squarely under "YMMV." The cinematography and sets have always been on point, but the stories haven't. Spectre is both expensive-looking and forrgettable (yes, I liked QoS better).

I seriously doubt a period piece is on the table if ATJ is the new Bond.
The M:I movies keep coming. They say the Fast movies are going to end (we'll see). Studio think suggests they'll try to land somewhere in-between those two with regard to scope and scale. I don't think it's going to be the Bond equivalent of Matt Reeves' The Batman.
There's tons of streaming content to compete with, too, like the new Reacher on Prime, which is better than of the recent films in these franchises.
They do. I have seen most of them. They are fun but largely forgettable. I enjoy while I'm watching, but in all honesty I couldn't tell you what they are about right now if you put a gun to my head. Tom Cruise does lots of wild stunts. Lots of action. But if there are moving stories there, I sure don't remember them. They are the cinematic equivalent of Happy Meals. They may satisfy while you're eating them, but not much is going to stick with you afterward.

I confess I have never seen any of them and have no desire to do so.

I enjoyed season 1 of REACHER very much. Great show. Season 2 ... ? Meh. It was okay at best. But I wasn't riveted like season 1.
AJT was fantastic as BLACK DOUGLAS in THE OUTLAW KING. In fact, he was unrecognizable from his other earlier roles.
He almost stole every scene he was in.
PRECISELY........But.......young peoples' heart throb, so to speak, it is not surprising that I would have not have heard of him. I hope he cleans up well because that picture in the link of post #1 strikes me as street cop like Stallone in "Night Hawks".
To each their own for I gave up on Bond flicks at Casino Royale. They say that the reboot was needed to compete again Bourne and Mission Impossible but what they rebooted it into..........was no longer Bond.
Enjoy.
