Adam has his own company and the same crew and actors. It was like Ford and John Wayne. You always saw the same actors in all Wayne's movies. They build a comfort zone and they're easier to work with.
If you go back to old movies you see it. Gene Autry, Roy Rogers, Lone Ranger (a good many of the old B movies). The Big Studios of the 30's to 50's had ther actors signed to contracts and used formula movies casting the same people with same director and crew.
In today's Hollywood, it probably means a steady paycheck and it's a formula that producers like because it is a proven track record. It's not good to experiment with the paycheck.
The key is that there is a different between Adam Sandler movies (movies that are produced by Happy Madison productions) and movies that Adam Sandler appears in (such as Spanglish, Reign Over Me, Punch Drunk Love).
Adam Sandler is the owner/operator of Happy Madison productions and basically gets to make the call on who appears in which movie.
In the other movies, Adam Sandler is just an actor hired like any other and has no control over the movie.
Often you cast people you have successful with in the past. As well as their reliability on set...have to spend lots of time with them so its easier if they are good to get along with. Drugs and drama are not great for other actors....see Ms Lohans fizzled cinema 'career'.
I like when his friend's pop up in the movies. It's like playing where's waldo
