I can't believe Brad Pitt got nominated! That's a surprise. He did "ok" but not that good. It was probably because he put on all that make-up. I'd like to give "Curious Case" another viewing. I didn't love the movie the first time.
As for best actress, I'll be rooting for Kate Winslet and Meryl Streep!

There are several movies I have not seen (I live in a Very Small Town) and will have to watch on Netflix.
I liked Brad Pitt's Benjamin Button performance, though I have not been a big fan in the past, but he is slow burner--check Pitt out in The Assassination of Jesse James.
I gotta say that I am a huge Winslet fan.
But I have not seen her new stuff yet.
Penn, a talented actor and director, has won an Oscar before (I have been impressed with his work, but was not all that intrigued by his Mystic River performance.)
We shall see. I enjoy watching the Oscars, but take it all with a grain of salt.
Did Gran Torina come out too late for an oscar nod? I just came from the theatre and I was sure it would get a nomination or two.
No, I think it came out in mid-December in limited run (NYC/LA). It didn't get anything? That's a shocker. I haven't seen it, but I've heard great things.
A bunch of snubs...The Dark Knight, if only for its run at the box office (independent of its superiority over BB and Milk) deserves a best picture nod, and Eastwood surely should have been in there for Best Actor. I'm thrilled to see Wall-E nominated for best original screenplay and hope it wins.
