Here's my list. I think "The Boys", "Edvard Munch". "Loves of a Blonde" and "Umbrellas of Cherbourg" are prebably the best movies I have ever seen. "Jackie Brown" the best big-studio Hollywood release.

The Boys (1998) Austra;ioan
Broken Vessels (1998)
Chacun cherche son chat (1996) French
Chungking Express (1994) Hong Kong
Autumn Tale (1998) French
Edvard Munch (1974) Norwegian
In the Company of Men (1997)
Jackie Brown (1997)
Karakter (1997)
Loves of a Blonde (1965) Czech
Run Lola Run (1998) German
The Mambo Kings (1992)
Muriel's Wedding (1994) Australian
Palookaville (1995)
Primer (2004)
Promesse, La (1996) French
Salmonberries (1991)
Sorcerer (1977)
The War Zone (1999)
Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1966)
What's Eating Gilbert Grape (1993)
Wonderland (1998) (The British one, not the American POS)

and after reading other people's lists, Im going to add:
Requiem for a Dream
You Can Count on Me.

i'm not sure if these were on my first list, but i have to add;

Dirty Pretty Things-great look at "illegal" immigrants in England
"Downfall"
"A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum", this is the first musical I ever saw and I've been pretty hooked ever since. It even has one of the best chase scenes ever.
"To Live And Die In L.A", early Willem Dafoe and a chase scene that still leaves me scratching my head.

Dirty Pretty Things was great!!! We watch anything w/Audry Tatou in it. I LOVED the ending when they turned the table on the guy that was selling the illegals kidneys and he had it done to him LOL

I'm glad someone mentioned American Beauty and Serenity
One I don't think I saw listed: The Last Emperor
Also Jean de Florette and My Life as a Dog for foreign flicks some of you younger people may never have heard of.
There's a difference between movies I think were great and movies that I can watch over and over again. For whatever reason there are only a few of the latter and none of them are anything particularly wonderful (The Replacements!!!, Bridget Jones Diary, Serenity, The Wedding Date, Mystery Alaska)
