The one thing I dont like/understand about "Taxi Driver" (Psycho, Alien)

I dont understand his transition to insanity. One could say he's always been insane but there was a point in the movie where he just snapped. And I think thats when he was on a date and the girl walked out on him because she didnt appreciate that porn movie. Ever since then he became apparently psycho. I dont think that should've been the thing that pushed him over the edge, seems meaningless.

Ya, at what point would you have him snap? There always has to be a tipping point where things escalate. He felt alienated through the whole movie and her rejection was the straw that broke the camel's back.
