Yeah, this is mine. Every single time. As a son with a sometimes strained relationship with my father and as a father who is working hard to avoid that with his son, it hits me on both ends. Plus, just the themes of redemption and second chances in that movie. It all just comes to a head in that three minutes of screen time and it gets me every single time.

Tough movie. The ones that make the most impact are the ones that make us the most uncomfortable.

I kept saying "no!" during the last 10 minutes ... just thinking about that final scene makes tear well up ... I never want to see that movie again.

When I was in junior high, back in the 70's....they showed us this very graphic (b&w) movie on the Holocaust...bodies burned, mass burials. It was so graphic that most had to look away...and by doing so, losing the chance to understand the impact of its history. IMO, 'Boy in the Striped Pajamas' would have so much more of an impact...and without the graphicness. The kids would feel the horror...instead of seeing it. You may disagree with me...but I feel that this movie should be shown in 9th or 10th grade history classes.

There are to many... I'm a movie buff, for some reason the first thing that come to mind is
"My name is Sam".... "Pay it Forward"...."PS I love You"

Was it a documentary showing real footage of the camps? Sounds like "Night and Fog". I had to watch that in a 7th grade journalism class. I burst into tears when they showed close-ups of the fingernail scratch marks in the ceilings of the gas chambers.

I never knew the name of the movie...but I do remember the part you speak about...so that must be it. I saw it again in college and convinced myself I had to watch the whole thing. When class was over, I ran to the bathroom and got sick.
