Although their name might lead one to think of this Fort Worth Texas band from the late 60s and early 70s were something different than what they were, this band has a real cult following 30-40 years after they ceased to be.
I tend to classify them as a band which had similar vocals to Deep Purple with some heavy rock with a bit of Texas sounding jazz influences.
Only one song had much airplay back in their heyday (D.O.A.). And if you take that song along with their name, you really get the wrong impression of them.
One of the nicer gifts I received at Christmas somewhere around 1971 was Bloodrock 2. My girlfriend gave it to me. She knew I was into this band at the time and what a great album it is! Thanks for Cheater and Jessica, KoobleKar. Don't know exactly why they remind me of Spooky Tooth, but they certainly do. I found quite a bit of enjoyment listening to 2 and 3, but then I kinda let them slide a few years later. Haven't really thought much about them in decades, but I understand that some new/old material was released as recently as 2000.
The keyboardist is very ill and the band got together again for one night in Fort Worth to do a benefit concert. The entire concert was released on DVD. The drummer couldn't make it, but his son filled in for him.
