Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu's New York debut concert appearance a sellout (singer, artists)

Tickets to indigenous singer Gurrumul debut performance in New York sold out within hours. AFP.com

Renowned to be Australia's "most important voice" Gurrumul was born blind and sings in his tribal Gumatj dialect, spoken by no more than 3,000 people.

A New York Times critic at Wednesday night's concert said there was something "preternaturally soothing" about his voice.
