Rap is part of hip hop regardless of what you think about it.

Wow, interesting poll.
I have never been the kind to believe that all Beatles music is great, there are many duds. I think their masterpieces are Revolver, followed by Rubber Soul. And I think their output after Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, it’s not that great.

Now with hip hop, since you mentioned the whole genre, I can pick a period of time where I think hip hop music peaked in my opinion, and that is 1989-1993. Some of my favorite hip hop groups came out with their best during that period. A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Brand Nubians, Arrested Development, Jungle Brothers, Digable Planets, etc. After that, with the west coast g-funk scene which I still detest to this day, and the subsequent east coast response which I was never fond of (with the exception of some Wu Tang tracks),hip hop basically died for me after ‘93.

So I picked hip hop because I have more to choose from, but a better poll would have included post Beatle’s member’s music. If you include albums like John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, All Things Must Pass by Harrison, and Band on the Run by McCartney, then I might have chosen that over hip hop.

I understood the question as one and not the other, but not exclusively.

IOW, you could listen to everything still but between hip hop and The Beatles you had to choose one and never hear the other again.

So I went with The Beatles, because there are too many songs of theirs that I would be really bummed about not ever getting to hear them again.

Now if the question was meant to be whichever you choose is the ONLY thing you could listen to from here on out, I may have to switch, because the amount of songs is SO MUCH larger with Hip Hop.

to even compare an entire genre to a group is just dumb....and shows imo how little the op thinks of hip hop....maybe Wu-Tang Clan or Run DMC vs Rock N Roll or Metal should be next.
