Don't You Forget About Me is iconic - but that may be due in part to its association with the film The Breakfast Club. And Every Time You Go Away was very good. But I'm going to have to go with either of the Tears For Fears songs.

The better question is this:
Which of these is the worst #1 of 1985? And the competition is fierce! But I think Say You Say Me narrowly edges out the Miami Vice Theme.

Bonus trivia:
A View To A Kill is the only song from a Bond film ever to hit #1 in the United States.

I'll agree with the Miami Vice theme, but I like Say You, Say Me.. Add in the Wham! song and "We are the World" which, was just monster at the time, but does not hold up well, IMO. I remember something about a gimmick where every radio station played that song at a specific time?

And, I might be one of the only people in the world who likes "We Built This City", which seems to get on every "Worst Song" list.

I will say that Money for Nothing is a song that was so big simply because of the video for it. I don't think that's a #1 song without the video and MTV. Take On Me was a neat video, but that one I think hits #1 without the video.

Voted for Huey Lewis, "The Power Of Love" was HUGE along with the Back To The Future movie. Easily the best song in that list IMO.

Good year for #1 singles as well as Top 40 singles but my choices for 1985 are

Huey Lewis & The News' "Power Of Love"
Foreigner's "I Want To Know What Love Is" (I was so happy they've finally scored a #1 single)
John Parr's "St. Elmo's Fire (Man In Motion)"
Wham's "Careless Whisper"
Tears For Fears' "Shout"

Now, it is Oh Sheila for me, And Everybody Wants to Rule the World was a tough call.

Then: Carless Whisper or Part Time Lover. I loved "old people songs" when I was a kid!
