This is a timeless sentiment. It has been uttered by people throughout history. Typically, it comes from older people who prefer the dominant music of earlier eras.

Essentially, they are defining 'terrible' as I don't like it. Which, of course, says nothing about the music in question. It speaks only to them.

I think it takes decades for humans to figure out what the greatest music of an era is. Maybe even centuries.

The cream rises to the top eventually.

The same will happen with music being made today.
