Wow, those are pretty good, better than I was expecting. When Jagger's heart is in something, he can still be interesting. His heart hasn't really been in much for almost 40 years, but every once in a while he still manages to come up with something worth hearing...

"Steel Wheels" was probably the last good Stones album all the way through. His "Wanderlust" from 93 or 94 was also good. Since then, it's been a decent Stones song here and there notably "Doom And Gloom" and "Love Is Strong"

Wishing Mick a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing The Rolling Stones onstage again.
Mick is dynamite!
The first Rolling Stones concert that I went to was at the Spectrum on Nov. 25, 1969.
They were fabulous except for the two songs that Mick & Keith sat on stools to play acoustic.
That killed the vibe but they recovered when again they went back to electric with the full band and started playing Under My Thumb. I am glad that they killed off that bare bones acoustic, sittin on stools thing for two throwaway songs after the 1969 tour and never again tried that stupidity as it didn't work because the crowd wanted upbeat chug-a-lug rock and roll.

I saw them again twice in 1972 in Charlotte and Norfolk.
I saw them in 1975 and Mick was horrible, combination of probably coke and alcohol, although Keith and Charlie, Bill, Ronnie and Billy Preston and Ollie Brown too were great. Mick's vocals were the worst of any tour that I've seen and Mick was so loaded that he just didn't care!
On the 1978 tour, Mick again was loaded and really drunk so his vocals were bad, although the band actually rocked like nobody's business.
Saturday Night live 1978 was the low point as Mick was horrible.
1981 had Mick back in the shape that he had not been in since 1972 or 1969, although vocal wise his voice was not as good as it had been in 1969, the Stones were better than they were in 1972 and nearly as good as they had been in 1969, although they were performing 2 1/2 hours in 1981 versus the 75 minutes that they played in 1969 or 80 minutes in 1972.
The 1989 Rolling Stones tour was their absolute best! I saw the Raleigh 9-16-89 show, the Birmingham 10-05-89 show, the Atlanta 11-21-89 show , the Clemson SC 11-26-89 show as well as the Atlantic City 12-19-89 show. They were unbelievable and far better than the 1969 & 1972 tours with Mick Taylor which were really good!!

I have seen them on every tour in the USA since 1969.
1994, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003 they were incredible, better than 1969 and 1972 but not as good as 1989 only because the song selection on 1989 tour was their best.
2005 they were good, about on par with 1972, the song selection could have been much better...
2015 they were just as good as 2005, with better song selection than 2005.
Every 1989 and later show that I saw was at least as good or better than 1969 & 1972. The 69 & 72 shows were really good. 1975 and 1978 were a spectacle but Jagger let the band down as he was messed up. 1981 could only have been better if Jagger's voice had been slightly better, he was in good for physically and it was enjoyable. In 1975 and 1978, he was messed up as much as most of the audience. Keith appeared to be the sober one on those tours, as nothing affected Keith no matter what he did in those days.

Jagger's solo albums were terrible until Wandering Spirit, which is good, and other than that one, Godess in The Doorway has good stuff on it but nothing else is decent.
Steel Wheels is a good Rolling Stones album, but Voodoo Lounge which followed is one of the best Rolling Stones albums ever, as good as Let It Bleed, Some Girls, Tattoo You, Sticky Fingers, Beggars Banquet, 12x5, Out Of Our Heads, or Exile on Main Street.

The crazy thing is there are plenty of songs that they recorded that didn't make it on albums that are better than what made it on to some of their albums.
Some are covers and many are originals.
Here is a STEEL WHEELS outtake, that is a Jerry Butler hit from the fifties.
