My vote would have to be Bob Dylan's "Desolation Row."

To me 25 years beyond are classic already. That includes most of the heavy metal, grunge and alternative rock. Can't think of the "most" right now as it changes every 5 seconds due to explosion in the late 80s to mid-90s.

Nights in White Satin ....The Moody Blues (1967)

Little Wing ....Jimi Hendrix Experience (1967)

God Only Knows ....The Beach Boys (1966)

Bridge Over Troubled Water ...Simon and Garfunkel (1970)

Morning Has Broken....Cat Stevens (1971)

Soldier.....Spirit (1970)

First of May .....The Bee Gees (1969)

Honorable mention....
Soldier ....Neil Young (1972)...totally different song than Spirit’s “Soldier”...
maybe not actually a “beautiful” in a traditional sense but an amazing emotional song
with Neil’s signature almost off-key vocals...not well known but it is on youtube.

I prefer "You're My Soul And Inspiration." I think Unchained Melody is way overplayed.
