I can't say enough good things about them. I hope I get the chance to see them live sometime. As far as I'm concerned, Alison is proof that God has sent angels to this earth to comfort us while we are temporarily away from his kingdom.
You will find them here! Alison is one of the great talents in the bluegrass/folk scene. Have been llucky to see her and the band twice at the Telluride Bluegrass Festival. Took a chance on her first CD (I've Got That Old Time Feeling) on the advice of a friend. She's been racking up grammies like they're going out style. Her new CD is great; thought it would be a strange paring with Robert Plant, but it works. I recommend it!
I am another fan. I like almost everything I've heard her/them do. I loved the "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou" soundtrack, as well as the Allison Krauss / Keith Whitley "duet" (remix) of "When You Say Nothing At All." I also love each of their own versions of the song. When it comes to Bluegrass Music, Allison is one of my favorite females, though there are others, too, like Rhonda Vincent, Patty Loveless and others. As for males, Dan Tyminski does a great job (I loved "Man of Constant Sorrow" and "In the Jailhouse Now"), but I also like Ricky Skaggs, Flatt and Scruggs, Ralph Stanley, and others, too. I guess you could say I'm just a fan of Bluegrass.

I really like Ally, but I'm still on the fence with her pairing up with Plant. That just seems to out there to me. I mean Led Zeppelin rocks and AKUS rocks (if bluegrass can rock), but I just can't see them mixing.
It seems like each release she puts out moves her closer and closer to musical perfection. I absolutely love her old stuff but as she continues to get older and AKUS continues to refine their sound, I can't help but love where they are going. Other than the live album, Lonely Runs Both Ways is my favorite AKUS album.
It's hard to pick favorite songs, but I'll try my best. I've got that old feeling, two highways, steel rails, I don't believe you've met my baby, when you say nothing at all, stay, looking in the eyes of love, blue trail of sorrow, baby now that I've found you, the lucky one, ghost in this house, forget about it, there is a reason, restless, let me touch you for a while, if I didn't know any better, and a living prayer are just a few off the top of my head. I never get tired of listening to them. Flux, Dan, Barry, and Ron all tear it up. I love it when Ally actually plays her fiddle too. She flat out gets down on some of the instrumentals.

Sometimes it takes odd little events in your life to see how things fit together.
About 5 years ago I spent about a week driving around the Blue Ridge/Smoky Mountain region of North Carolina and Tennessee. Two of the artists whose music blared from my stereo during those driving escapades were Alison Krauss and Led Zeppelin. It was one of the first times I'd ever listened to Krauss. Both seemed to fit the mood and the landscape perfectly, in their own distinct ways. Surely that's easy to envision in the case of Alison Krauss... But for Led Zeppelin's part, they contributed their own dose of themes and folk to the occasion, such as mandolins, slide guitar, and good ol' fashioned foot-stompers: think "Braun-Y-aur Stomp," "Misty Mountain Hop," "Friends," "Gallows Pole," "Hey Hey What Can I Do," "No Quarter," "Over the Hills and Far Away," "Poor Tom," "Ramble On," "Thank You" and "The Battle of Evermore" as you're driving around the Carolina Highlands. It really is a great fit.
When I heard about this album, all I had to do was remember how the two seemingly divergent artists both supplemented the mood, tone and scenery of driving around the Carolina mountains so well. After those memories popped into my mind, Alison and Plant coming together for an album struck me as a natural combination.
Another fan here ... Alison is so talented with her fiddle and she has such a beautiful voice. I like her duo with Plant also How's The World Treating You with James Taylor and Whiskey Lullaby with Brad Paisley. I really believe she can sing with anybody and it will be good.
Many years ago while visiting relatives in Hazard, Kentucky, we went to the county fair. A beautiful young girl got up on stage with a fiddle and absolutely made it sing! And THE VOICE! Oh my God! I turned to my cousin and said '' she will be a big star someday''. Turned out to be 14 year old Allison Krauss!

That version of Whiskey Lullaby is incredible. It's such a sad song, and the emotion these two pour into it is amazing. I love the way they sing it.

During the 80's we had great bluegrass radio in Washington DC. I remember hearing "an amazing young fiddle prodigy" Alison Krauss on that station. I especially like the album So Long So Wrong. The stories are so familiar. I like the collaberation with Robert Plant - she's good!
