My mother has left me a number of 78 (speed) albums. Does anyone know of a forum, website, link or anything to discover if there is any interest in buying them or to know their worth? OR your opinion if this is just thrift store material.
Thanks!
I dont know if its different today, there is more buzz about records now.
But in early 2000s 78s were utterly worthless. I tried to sell a pile of them, no record store in my city wanted them. Said they had a ton of them and they don't move much.
I have hundreds of them. I didn't pay much for most of them. Often I wanted a few but the sellers insisted on my taking the entire collection at a time (for very little) so they could be rid of them. Some are quite valuable though. An original G&T pressing of Grieg playing his own music, for instance, cost a pretty penny. There are many that are valuable but you need to know what they are. I know sitting there and sorting through a stack of dozens of them is daunting but you never really know what you'll find in a pile of them.
Thanks everyone, sounds like many are in this dilemma, I'll keep you posted.
