Liking this more than the other two new Nilüfer Yanya I've heard. This has more of the multi-layered quality I find in my favorite songs from her 2019 album.
Tons of new music incoming in the last days of the year. Lots of catching up to do on EOY lists. Listening to hearings has eaten into my music listening time, and a few tricky personal matters have also been eating my time. Otherwise, I probably would have posted a good deal more to this thread.
I think I am going to like the new Boris/Merzbow album, from what I've heard of it.
I don't consider Death by Rock n' Roll much of a song. It is alright. Singing is strong. I dislike the video. It is very her brand and / or soul though. Probably will be a day coming her way. It is perhaps a way to notoriety but it also seems like choice or destiny. I have some interest in knowing more about her story. Currently at 27 years...
25 is the total opposite look but part of the same story. I didn't think much of the song but the video performance is quite engaging and appears very sincere.
She has a place in current music hierarchy but maybe it would have been higher in 90s or earlier. Can be tough, sexy and dark and still only have moderate appeal these days because the genre shift and the tastes of the majority who probably prior reject most or all of what I'd call true rock. Prior reject is happening more than 1 way. By genre, era, social context, gender stance, etc.
Bab L'Bluz track was outstanding. Very traditional sounding as music (I don't know about the lyrics). Very psychedelic video.
I wonder how many clicked on link. I did today. Would look for more maybe with time.
I'll try more links in this thread and elsewhere for new sounds. I do browse for new to me. It is kinda fun but also some work to wade thru the not right for me stuff.
