Too many to name. The 60's and 70's were the best era of rock/pop. My favorite 70's band is Blue Oyster Cult. Greatest album of ALL time, not just the 70's, is Secret Treaties - almost every song is great. Flaming Telepaths, Harvester of Eyes, Dominance and Submission, Subhuman, Career of Evil, and ME 262.
You forgot the best song on that album - Astronomy. I think their first album is slightly better, if only because of "Then Came the Last Days of May." Saw them last year and they were still great. The set list was mostly early stuff.
However, if I have to pick one pre-1980 tune I never tire of it's gotta be:
One song that I never get tired of is an exotic instrumental originally written in 1951 by Les Baxter but later performed by Martin Denny whose version I like better than any other. It's called 'Quiet Village.'
Could be a song that you still hear a lot (maybe on Sirius radio), or one that is gone & forgotten.
I will start. Ride Like The Wind, by Christopher Cross.
Ride Like The Wind is a good one - I still have my pristine 7" 45 of it, perfect and not played for probably 30 years. It came along late in my prime musical interest era.
Gosh....most everything worth listening to is more than 40 years old. Where do I start?
This song got more airplay after 2000 than it did when it came out in 1977, and is featured on movies such as Megamind, Role Models, The Magic Roundabout, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, among others.
The song was also used in the television show Doctor Who and during the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2012 Summer Olympics.
