Generally, I am much more into the sonics of a song than the lyrics - half the time the lyrics only sound cool until you pay attention and realize they don't really make a whole lot of sense
But this song's lyrics are very clever, and the songwriter is playing with his listeners, and actually telling them that he is talking nonsense, but that they won't be able to resist listening, because the song's "hook" will always bring them back, and you know what - he's right
Quote:
It doesn't matter what I say
So long as I sing with inflection
That makes you feel I'll convey
Some inner truth or vast reflection
But I've said nothing so far
And I can keep it up for as long as it takes
And it don't matter who you are
If I'm doing my job, it's your resolve that breaks
Because the hook brings you back
I ain't tellin' you no lie
The hook brings you back
On that you can rely
