It's not exactly rock, but instead folk. Like some other old British folk tunes, it's pretty dark. Don't be fooled by the soothing nature of the music of this recording.

There are many renditions of the tune, and story, of course. A little research also shows that the song (not particularly this recording, I don't know) was once, many decades ago, banned from Irish radio, so there you go, controversial as well.

Guns N' Roses - One in a Million

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ulvmdYMyT80

Verse 1:
"...Police and n*****s, that's right, get out of my way..."

Verse 2:
"...Immigrants and f****ts, they make no sense to me
They come to our country
And think they'll do as they please
Like start some mini-Iran
Or spread some ****ing disease..."

First artist that came to mind is "Pink Guy". His songs area making fun of horrible people, but use some interesting lyrics.
White is Right: I'm an Aryan race, eyes blue as the sky
If you think about it, Hitler did nothing wrong
He was really just trying to keep the race nice and strong
'Cause white is right, and white is good
Keep those n*****s back in the hood\

Song has been banned from just about every platform.

I Have A Gun: Oooh I shot kids in the preschool
I shot five in the preschool yeah
I shot five kids from my high school yeah
I shot five kids from my college

first off, love the subject matter of this thread and I will listen to each posting as time allows.

"politically correct" is feel is too low of a bar. ANY song that expresses values and mores (/more-rays/)
from 30 years ago is politically incorrect.

I feel the same about "controversial" - after viewing the album art of Jane's Addiction "Nothing's Shocking" in 1988, I agree. Nothing is, and you cannot offend me.

Back in the mid-20th Century, the age of sexual consent was more commonly 15 or 16. Not the current 18. Heck, 16 yr olds were drafted/volunteered in WWII. It was the Civil Rights Voting Act of 1971 which normalized the age of consent, to bring it inline with voting, alcohol purchase/consumption, etc on a national level. Although it was a 'minor' crime for an over-18 male to have sex with an under 18 female (statutory rape) it was NOT a crime in California for an over 18 female to have sex with an under 18 male, within a reasonable range. Look it up if you dont believe me. That changed in the 90s to include both gender scenarios.

As an example of 2022's values... simply an egregious age difference between two otherwise legal adults is considered super-creepy, tantamount to child molestation... whereas back in the 80s we just called it "cradle robbing".

So I'm going with DARK, as in songs about crimes.
