It was released by "The Guesss Who" in march 1971 ......highest chart position
on Billboard's Hot 100 was # 29.
Their followup july 1971 single "Raindance" charted higher at #19.
My understanding is that Guess Who lead singer Burton Cummings did an interview
at radio station exhausted from an all night party and was advised that he would
go live "on air" when the alert flasher lit up and Burton in his condition
misread "Alert" as "Albert"...
Most of the lyrics are just nonsense lyrics that sounded good together....
so the song doesn't make any sense...but I like the way he sings it.
IMO an even better Guess Who song is "Runnin' Back to Saskatoon" from 1972,
crazy thing is they never did a studio recording of it ...the lyrics are also typical
Burton Cummings nonsense lyrics but better....lines like "this food is home grown,
not made in Hong Kong". He lists off the names of real canadian prairie towns,
except one town he mentions is not on the prairies...."Terrace" ...which is in BC!
Thanks. Now I don't have to play it backwards & try to listen for "Burton is dead".
