Really! There wouldn't have been a Pink Floyd as we know it without The Beatles. As for "technical depth", consider the compositions & lyrics (and bass lines). Unfortunately, Lennon didn't change the world (enough, anyway) with Imagine. They weren't flashy technique-wise. They were more like a composition workshop, and George Martin (their producer) was a certified genius. When I listen to the segue between Good Morning and Sgt Pepper's (Reprise) and realize that it was done with four tracks, my jaw drops.
