Classic Country Answer Songs
Here is an unusual answer song situation in classic country, given the drastic melodic differences. They don't sound anything alike, except for the brief note allusion in the chorus. But there's no question the intention was there in the lyric, as you'll see in the answer offering.
If the piano lick at the beginning is familiar, it's by session player Pig Robbins, who also did Charlie Rich's hit, "Behind Closed Doors". And he almost had a lawsuit thrown at him because of the similarity of phrasings in the arrangements. True story.
