I'm getting old and don't care for much of anything past the mid 1980s...

A Couple great albums though from 2000-2009 I love are

American Idiot - Green Day
Parachutes - Coldplay (Gosh they had so much potential but fizzled after a few good albums, trying to chase trends...)

I don't immediately know my answer here either. Have to think further, check dates. Mainstream would be one answer but my main answer might be sidelines or obscure.

Any other suggestions to check out with 10 years past to sift & settle out the best? If I make picks it will probably be in rock but I might go outside that.

Assemblage 23 had a few songs that found the groove for me.

There are quite a few above that I never heard of or never listened to. Will try some.

Quick spins on a half dozen did not spark further digging.

I like some Sonic Youth but more of their songs missed for me.

Tried another half dozen. Not feeling them. Like some Yeah Yeah Yeahs but not that album. Probably said it before but I'll pass on The Strokes.
