Elvis Presley's "Love Me Tender" was a new set of lyrics written for the old Civil War song "Aura Lee", which was sung by Frances Farmer in the 1936 film "Come and Get it".

"House of the Rising Sun" was a folk-ballad. The oldest recording is by Clarence Ashley from the 1930s. It regained popularity due to the Animals. (The only Youtube version of Ashley's rendition is from the early 1960s)
