So my friend and I are going down to Myrtle Beach next weekend. The last time I went I was a little kid, so I'm not familiar with the area. So I want to know what some of the better bars are down there. We're both young (still undergrads), so we'd be looking for places with a good 25 and under contingent, and we're not trying to drop a boatload of money. And neither of us are really into dancing, so we're not looking for clubs.

Broadway at the beach has a bunch of bars all within walking distance of each other. Some are clubs but you might like Blarney Stone, they have bands. If you want just a dive local bar you can try Surfside Live, they have bands, pool tables, games and a jukebox. If you want more upscal martini bar, try City Bar or Buddha Lounge. In Carolina Forest there are two bars with pool tables - Handleys and one other but can't remember the name, maybe someone else can chime it. They both have food and not expensive. If you want to go to Murrells Inlet, there are several very close to each other. I would do that one night and just bar hop - Dead Dog Saloon, SBB, Beaver Bar, Creek Ratz....also Shuckers on N. Kings Hwy has cheap food/drinks, pool tables, juke box and I think bands sometimes. Lots of places to go! Most or all of them have web sites you can check out. If you want to hang with the college crowd I would suggest bars in Carolina Forest or up 501 area like the Coastal Ale House..near the college. This site has a lot of bars and restaurants: Myrtle Beach Restaurants : The #1 Dining Guide with 18354 Restaurant Reviews for the Grand Strand

Rapture mentioned some decent places, not doubt about it. If you are in town on a Sunday and you like live music.. there is only one place in town to be, and that is The Boathouse. It's right on the INtracoastal Waterway. Do a quick search on fb for Boathouse Myrtle Beach.. You should get an idea of what they do at that point.

Ask locals in the age demographic you referred to.. they will tell you.. The Boathouse backyard is where it's at on Sundays in the summer.

Good luck wherever you go.. Hope ya have fun...

broadway is cool for visitors. I would DEFINATELY recommend hitting the boardwalk at night. its jumpin this time of year. If you do go to the boardwalk...on 9th avenue north there are a few bars. my favorite is oceanfront bar and grill. its a super chill spot, they play reggae and rock music, and its an awesome place to hangout, and its right on the beach. During this time of year, there might even be a band performing on the strip. its tight you really have to see it for yourself.
