im considering relocating to the myrtle beach area from new jersey. im 32, two children 7 mos and 11 years old. i have to associate degrees, one in business and the other education. ive worked with children infant and school-aged for 5-plus years as well as ive done office and clerical work. i ve started taking classes towards a bachelors. ive looked into the horry county schools website and im interested in the paraprofessional positions since thats the type of work i do. my concern is that now a relative of mine down in myrtle beach has told me that alot of teachers/teacher assistants are being laid off and/or quitting because of money(i guess the district not being able to pay what they desire or not having funds to keep them employed) idk but after having the conversation it put a damper on my plans and made me kinda think twice. im also familiar with working around at risk, low-income, & homeless families, so im also considering that field, too. but i wanted to know is it true about the education job market and are there any jobs in the social & human services field.
