The title says it all...Hoto's is closing on Labor Day. I'm so sad! That place has the best acoustics around! The beer is cold, the food is good..and they get the best bands! I guess it's a combination of the old wood in the deck and the sand dunes just beyond. ANY band sounds like a million bucks there.
Hoto's has been my favorite place for years. I'm so upset that whoever owns this had decided to get rid of this iconic beach music home! Fat Harold will be turning over in his grave.
I feel your pain. We don't make the drive up to NMB as much any more, but the last remaining beach music bar with a dance floor on the South end was sold last month. We're just waiting for the inevitable. Wonder which version of "the new Myrtle Beach" will replace HOTO's - condos? dress boutique? bagel shop?

Reason: fat fingers
Total bummer, my favorite spot to chill within a walk of our place. Classic dive bar with a great outdoor patio on the ocean. Good staff and most have been there for years. When rumors first started brewing about HOTO's closing, I heard after Harold died recently, the new owner would likely have to bring the building up to code which basically means tear it down cause of so many violations that were handshake deals and grandfathered in...not exactly sure the truth to it but I guess it's possible. Nonetheless, please save HOTO's!
I know it wasn't in the best shape, but you can't beat the acoustics there....every band sounds like a million bucks! It's my favorite way to spend a Sunday! The "outdated-ness" was part of the charm! Port-o-johns for the guys when it's busy....where else do you find such a thing! Lol!
