Retiring and starting over (Myrtle Beach, Surfside Beach: renting, beach, activities)

Hi, 55 year old divorced male is retiring in December and planning on renting a VRBO in the MB area to see if that is an option for a permanent retirement place. Was curious as to the best place for singles as I assume most people are coupled up. I’m thinking about renting in the Surfside Beach area as I don’t really care to be in the high traffic tourist areas. Would love some suggestions, recommendations or imput on single activities in that area or others.
