Hello,

Can anyone give me some information on living in this area year round? Does anyone live at the Withers Preserve, and if so, is it as nice as advertised?

I am from the Northeast and want to relocate to a nice seaside town but can't decide where due to some negative comments, hurricane paths, etc. Is it possible to have "it all" down south and be happy?

I have read the comments on Charleston, and it just confuses me i.e. the paper mill smell, smoking in public places, etc.

I would enjoy hearing more opinions on the subject of moving from the Northeast to your area. I was planning to move to Hermitage, TN right outside of Nashville, but I feel I will become "land locked" despite the lakes as I am used to walking the beaches and would like to be able to year round.

Thanks!

You may have better luck posting this in the general SC board.

There is awhole thread on the Market Commons & the housing in & around Withers Preserve. I'll do a search for you & post it. I drove through there today & the are ais really, really nice. Tons of shopping & dining (most of it is high end). The area is the old air force base and has a ton of park areas too, also not too far from the beach. I would certainly look into it.

BIG problem in MB and S.C. IS the smoking...can't enjoy going out as smoke is everywhere. Surfside Beach now has restriction, but some business owners are not managing it correctly! I have lived here 2 yrs. now - not sure I'll be staying. Any truth to 'bad soil' comments I've heard about MC...??? The Withers Preserve apts. are nice, but only one pool it appears for alot of buildings...some have screened porches, some not - would definitely recommend screened !
