I was wondering if anyone knew the best way to get a job as a timeshare agent around the Myrtle Beach area. My husband and I live in Louisiana, but have always wanted to live in the Carolinas. We are ready to relocate!! He prefers the beach. I have sent my resume to Westgate Resorts, but what are some other resorts in the area? I have a real estate license, but a friend who has worked with timeshare said I would enjoy it. My husband has finished his real estate curriculum and is getting ready to take his test. I doubt we need a real estate license for timeshare, but we'll have it anyway. He has been in the oil and gas industry for 20 years and is ready for a change.
We would consider mountains too. Know any resorts we could check into?
RCI is an exchange company; they don't sell timeshare. BUT you can find all the resorts in the MB area listed there, so it is a good resource.
My advice: Avoid Westgate if you can and Spinnaker Resorts. That's a rough environment for a "green pea".
You might try someone like Marriott Vacation Ownership (http://www.vacationclub.com/default.jsp/), or Starwood (http://www.starwoodvacationownership.com/ --they own Westin and Sheraton, among other brands) or Bluegreen Resorts (http://bluegreenresorts.com/explore/home.aspx ). The Burroughs & Chapin company has a resort there too but I don't know if they are actively selling. It's called the South Beach Resort, I think.
There are others as well, but off the top of my head those are the best options to look at. Note that I don't sell timeshare, but I'm familiar with the industry. You also might want to look at the industry blog at http://streetalkblog.com if you want some colorful conversation from insiders in the industry.
Thanks guys for the information. So far I have checked into Wyndham and have an interview when I go to Myrtle Beach. Thanks for info on the other resorts. I'm going to check into them as well. Thanks for the info regarding Westgate because I have talked with them, but know nothing about them.
Thanks again for all of your help!!! You guys are great!!!
