Those weren't sand fleas, they were sand gnats or no-see-ums. Like mosquitoes they are at their worst at dawn and dusk or near the mangroves and inland away from the coast.
Sand fleas are the little shelled critters you find at the shore line and make great bait for a few species of fish.
Some insect sprays help keep them at bay ( the no-see-ums not the sand fleas ).
One of the joys of living in the area.

I'm not digging the part about too many homeless factor and the diversity thing neither. Unfortunately I have to follow my folks out to Naples so that can care for them and unlike them I am not wealthy enough to buy in North Naples. Not sure I'll be lovin it in Naples. Damn...

Come to Miami and then u can earn ur right to complain about homlessness and diversity...

Naples is like a utopian pleasantville in comparison.

I couldn't agree more. There is so much to love about Naples. The lack of diversity isn't one of them. I'm a white, middle-age male from New England and I feel like I'm only seeing people just like me (plus a few years) whenever I'm out and about.
