Looking at apartment complexes next week, TGM Bermuda, Aventine at Naples, Amberton Apts., Meadow Brook, The Point at Naples. Can anyone tell me which ones are the best and why? So hard to figure it out on line and not knowing the surrounding areas, etc.

I'm retiring from 10 years of teaching and returning to a helping profession, Transition Coach for Private and Corporate.

Concerned about safety, as I am alone, and peace, which I desperately need (!) Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Amberton is the best of those listed.

I was told last evening that Amberton has not ever finished their amenities and some have been sold and some are rented. Maybe I'll drive by tomorrow and check out for myself. Thanks.

What budget are you looking at? I Agree that amberton is at the top of that list. I have been underwhelmed by the apartments here and would recommend looking into a condo. Rent here is very high and you can't go by the assumption that the high price means the renters are middle class. The reality is that a "cheap" apartment is around $1k.

That means apartments are generally purchased by low income individuals without another option. I don't mean to sound judgemental, but there are connotations that generally go along with that. I won't derail this thread with a more lengthy discussion on that topic.

In a nutshell, look around and look at the actual apartment you would be renting. Don't count on the "model" matching what you would actually get. I would also avoid any apartment with carpeting personally unless you can see it and make sure the previous owners didn't soil it badly. Spend some time in the area at night to see how the neighborhood is.

Amberton was being built right before the bubble burst, i think they only got a phase or two in before it was halted. Most of it is still just empty lots. The price is decent enough and the local is good. For anything more than a two bedroom I'd be expecting to pay upwards of $1250-$1400 or so.
