We are looking to make an offer on a home in Pelican Strand. I have asked numerous people if kids live in the sub.. and keep getting the run around. Anyone have any ideas how "kid-friendly" it is there? I have two young boys and do not want to spend a fortune to live in a sub to be miserable!

A suggestion - ask at the club about programs for kids. If they don't offer any that is telling. If they do ask about numbers, ages and dates.

Did you find out any info? What made you decide on Pelican Strand? I'm only asking as we have children and are currently looking in a variety of communities. Thanks!

I went to the clubhouse itself and talked to servers and any staff member I could find.. I got the same response every time.. no kids. Someone actually lectured me on how basketball nets are gross in neighborhoods.. so, crossed that off my list. And for the record, I do not play basketball

Definitely not where you want to be. Riverstone is generally geared to families, and there are others. Glad you found out before you moved in!

@PaxsMom - phew! Good thing you checked. Riverstone, Raffia Preserve and Marbella Isles are more geared towards families in terms of amenities. I've heard that Moneterey is family friendly. Older community. Also of course, Saturnia Lakes.

The number of family friendly communities continues to grow each year in Naples so within the next two years you will have more options.

A healthy demographic shift is underway. While it won't be the sleepy Naples of the 60's and 70's it won't be totally dominated by old, rich, Corvette-driving white males from the Midwest either (but of course I like the taxes they bring in as snowbirds!).
