For people living in Naples year round, which do you prefer and why? Living in an apartment or a house? (or something else?)

I'm interested in the different opinions on this one.

Home. We have a 2 year old so having a yard is important. In addition, we love growing a substantial amount of our own food and growing conditions in this area are amazing.

House. With 3 kids and 3 cats, I need a yard and a bit of distance from my neighbors. I also want to be able to walk into my home directly from outside. I don't want to walk down a hallway. When the kids are on their own, then it's maybe time for a condo overlooking the gulf.

Would love to live in a house but we weren't all old enough to get into the market when it was buy able. Can't afford a $350,000 starter fixer upper so we rent from a family friend in a condo with nazi ruled HOA.

Depends upon what your needs and likes are. I enjoyed our 3 bedroom, 2 bath apartment. We needed a little inside space which directed us toward a house. House came with a little bit of land so we are now enjoying fresh eggs in the morning. And living in a home is quieter than condo living. The dog loves it.

Will eventually end up in a condo or townhome. More restrictions but less I'll have to do. Both lifestyles can be nice or both could be hell.

Ditto for us - condo means easy maintenance and no yard work! Landscape work alone on a home in SWFL is a whole new ballgame from our prior home up north.

We have a wonderful young family in the unit next door, and upper unit is vacant most of the year.

Interesting - what was so terrible about your Chicago condo?
