Sometimes it rains hard and the power stays on. Sometimes it doesn't even rain but the power flickers with thunder. Anyone know what is up?

The F in FPL stands for flicker. For sensitive electronics invest in UPS units.

FPL is still figuring out how to wrangle this newfangled magic called electricity.

we used to get a lot of flickers and transformers blowing up with a big bang along an occasional fire. Since then they have replaced the old style transformers and it seems to have solved a lot of problems. We still get an occasional flicker or a short outage but it doesn't happen often.

Dipping into the hurricane fuel cache for my generator and there's no hurricane. I guess FPL is commemorating Irma on her anniversary, as we lost power. It's been 2 months since the last time, which is some kind of record.

Hopefully, this one won't last 10 days.....
