Bob Norris grew up in Naples. The Norris family is one of Naples founding families. Google the Norris family in Naples for a history about them.

There has been a book written about Bob Norris and an elephant. Tear jerker, feel good book.

Worth your time.

I read years ago Bob Norris as one of the Marlboro "men " years ago and it seemed like he grew up on a farm in rural Illinois was married to a children hood friend and moved to colorado , not naples but that was some 10 years ago . But I've been wrong to many times ! Maybe he was born there ,maybe a different branch of the Norris tree .

The Norris's had more than one place. Bob Norris is Mrs. Gaynors brother. The family owned Keeywadin island and lived there. They built the Keeywadin club which is a pretty cool place. They founded the conservancy.

How do I know this? I know Mrs Gaynor. If you ever have a chance to talk to her, she is a great story teller and Naples historian. This is a good article on their philanthropy.

The whole family came there in the Winter. That was before our time. It was their Winter retreat. I'll find out for you if you want me to. He's autographing a couple books for me.

Do you remember Marty, Dale and the infamous houseboat? They did a lot of work on Keewadin and in Port Royal.

You might remember me too. I still have a place on 3rd St South. Jus celebrated 51 years there.

I live in St.Charles,Il and the family and extended family is very well known here, Colorado Springs and Naples. They have given and done alot for all these communities. Almost everywhere you go in St.Charles, there is a reference or landmark. Amazing people and tremendous generosity.

Naples fan I do remember a Marty but doubt I could put a face to the name or at this point even remember what he did !! I never had much love for the upper half of that island and have little interest on the new projects that were in the process that AVA was working toward for the island . Company QC had been slipping for a few years and that was about the time when a few a few of us decided to move on as homes were finished .

I might have met you as you have been there a while and depending on your age even went to the same schools at the same time but there were only had a few folks people in a ole naples that I new well . I spent my school years close enough to a certain animal park that the big cats morning feed time was my alarm clock for some years .

In 21 years we have only been back for a couple funerals as most of our friends all moved away too .
