I posted this on another forum and wanted to let ya'll know.
---------------
Thank you so much. Our dog is a big, powerful girl so needs lots of room and she will eat critters if she can. She likes to play with snakes also, but here we don't have Copperheads, just black rat snakes. Funny how you just don't know what you don't know...I'd thought an air conditioned dog shed our something could suffice, simple not knowing about the lizards, frogs, rattlesnakes, biting ants etc....so I've been researching based on other things I thought mattered more. A more spacious setting suits us, but the increased likelihood of unwanted vermin goes up, too, and I really had not thought of animals raised in FL vs. animals brought into the state as far as being able to manage the humidity and heat. Our three sweet bunnies would be miserable at their age, and I don't think I'd ever sleep well wondering if something would try to get them in the night. Our dog is outdoors all the time and loves it, but it is so controlled here...

Anyway, mission accomplished for now. My husband is game to keep the kids and pets the priority, which means staying where we are. I'd hoped to find a way to help him and balance everyone else's needs/wants, but God must have something different in store. I love the snow, so it seems I might get a little more at least for a few years.

This is a great forum. Thanks again everyone.

Thanks for reporting back, I think you are making a sensible decision.

In the meantime, you should plan a summertime trip to SW Florida to test out the humidity and the lifestyle. Too many people come for a week in a hotel in season and get spoiled by the warm weather and sand after leaving a blizzard but don’t realize what summer brings...

For sure--now we have more time to do that as well. My cousin is moving down in 2-3 yrs and has already said we can stay with her to really get the feel.

Take care, markjames68.
