Noticed it's sockeye salmon season and Publix & Costco (briefly) had a nice catch BUT are there any independent fish stores? Sounds funny put that way. I guess the bottom line is where is the best place to buy fresh fish in the Nashville area? We moved from CT and miss a wider variety of fish being available. Thanks!

The farmer's market had an excellent Fishmonger but I would suspect that with the flood damage it is closed. Whole Foods has a decent selection and the Kroger Marketplace surprisingly has good stuff too...although I wouldn't buy seafood at any of the normal Kroger stores I've shopped....

I've never found a good fish monger in the area. It's probably because there isn't the supply of local seafood like you have along the coasts. The only really local stuff I know of is catfish and freshwater shrimp.
My best seafood has usually come from Whole Foods. Seems like they buy from higher quality vendors than the run of the mill grocery stores. Honestly, though, I haven't cooked much seafood since moving out here. If I get a real craving then it's time for a trek to Bonefish Grill.
I go by the Farmer's Market during the week and hadn't noticed a fish monger there. Maybe on the weekends?

There is a place called Little's Fish Company in Germantown (just north of Downtown). Don't know much about it, but I have heard good things.

THANKS everyone! In particular I saw the Gulf Pride trucks at the Tuesday farmers market but thought they were there with a stand or something and never saw them. So they actually have a STORE in the Factory? Cool. Shrimp on the bar-b!
