We don't have many details, so I don't yet know if we'll have a choice to stay here until school is out.

I'm excited about the move! We'll be hours and hours and hours closer to grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins. It will be nice to move somewhere that is recovering, because the metropolitan area that we're leaving is quite depressed at the moment.

The kids have NO IDEA that a move is in the plans- we're not telling them until we have a solid timeframe, and we're still waiting for that information.

Thank you for your help! I'll probably have more questions!

PS: I have talked to a couple of parents from ASMT.

Looks like I may have to come down there and start some new programming and opportunities for tweens like mine...!

I wanted to add another resource for you to look at for autism services. I have used it to find services for my mentally challenged sister. A search for autism in middle tennessee returned a list of 22 agencies.

Tennessee Disability Pathfinder

Hope this helps! I would call the county school systems to see if there are specific schools with services for your child. In my experience, Tennessee does have some relatively good services in schools, but they may only be offered at one school per county or region.

Do developments (particularly in Williamson County) have requirements that residents use chemicals on their lawns or keep lawns a certain way? The photos of homes as I look at real estate online show beautiful lawns. We are avoiding chemicals and our lawn looks quite different from the neighbors who use a service to 'poison' theirs.

In our current location, some developments keep commons areas looking bright and green with lawn services and chemicals. I don't want to look for a home in a golf commuity for that reason.

I'm curious as to homeowner association rules/regs about lawns. We won't have an old car up on blocks or anything like that...

It really would depend on the subdivision. The HOAs all are different.

If you are very interested in a house, you should request a copy of the HOA bylaws and regulations before you put earnest money down. Or at least find out the property management company and ask them about chemicals.

mine doesn't require chemicals and I refuse to use them, but that doesn't mean I can do much about my neighbor's addiction to TrueGreen.
