I have been wanting to move to Franklin for several years after visiting once for 1 day. My problem is convincing my husband . Can anyone tell me if there are ANY fishing opportunities within 2 hours of Franklin? If he can't fish, he won't move.

Of course there are! If that's all that's keeping you, then it's time to look for a house

Oh, I saw it on some other forum where they're meaner to the newcomers.

I only bring out the big guns here when they're really necessary.

I did get used to it though by the second summer we were here. When I go back to CA to visit family, the minute I step outside at the airport I feel like I'm home. Also it took me two years to stop buying my kids "light jackets" for cool summer breezy nights, they don't exist here. I miss the hot days followed by the cool breezey nights in the bay area.
My best friend, who married my ex-girlfriend in Austin about 22 years back, started a family with her and they live in Castro Valley. I was out there visiting and we went to see another TX couple, whose wedding I had attended also 22+ years ago, who were in Petaluma. When I read the above it reminded me of the conversation among these ex-texans complaints that of all the wonders of CA, there was nothing there comparing to warm Austin nights. Having a beer at an outdoor music venue in a T-shirt. Or skinny-dipping at night at Lake Travis; air drying on the limestone embankment. For reference, Austin is noticeably warmer than Nashville, but with less humidity. I would think cool spring nights in TN would be close enough to the Bay Area experience, no?

Having lived in the Bay Area for years, and now living in Franklin, I don't see a lot of similarities in the weather. BTW, I love both places.

Sure, there are perfect days/evenings in both locations, but beyond that? Not so much. Very different.

There is a old-school country music joke in here somewhere, I just know it...

I can tell you that Franklin is a great city to be in. I can't really give you any first hand information, but my uncle lives just outside of Franklin and I've been in the city many times. It has a very relaxed atmosphere and it seems (in my opinion) as if everyone is welcome. I'm from Wisconsin and when I've visited my uncle, I've felt very at home in Franklin. I don't know about the cost of living and the lifestyle, but Franklin seems like a great city to raise a family.
