My boyfriend has moved to Gallatin recently, and I am planning on joining him within the month. Both CityData and Wikipedia claim that Gallatin is over 75% white, but my boyfriend estimates Gallatin as being up to half black.

Are the statistics out of date? Are there some areas that are more homogeneous (if so, which)? Are all the white people just hiding?

I guess there are parts of Gallatin that are more ethnically diverse than others. 50% minority sounds possible in some areas. But overall, I would have guessed Gallatin about 70-75% white before seeing the statistic you referenced above.

I used to live in a rural area in Sumner County just outside of Gallatin. I remember there were a lot more black people in Gallatin than in Hendersonville, but I'm positive that it's not 50/50, your statistic sounds more accurate to me.

The west side of Gallatin near Hendersonville and in the Station Camp School zone is probably 95% white and the Gallatin High School Zone is probably 65% white. Maybe this skews the perception depending on which side of town you are in the most.
