We came across a community called Forest Crossing in Franklin. Nice golf course. Close to town. Does anyone have an opinion concerning how well active retirees would fit in ?

Thanks

We have friends who have lived there 15+ years and love it.

They have raised their kids there. It's a very neighborly community, but there are a LOT of families.

But there are empty-nesters too. I believe that as long as having kids in the neighborhood aren't a deal-breaker for you, you will fit in fine.

The best thing you can do is spend some time down here. We looked for 2 years before we finally settled on a place and are so glad we took our time. Many areas in Springhill & Franklin have a lot of children in the subdivisions. It helps if you can find a realtor who is willing to work with you over a period of time and not rush you into buying.

I looked at houses in Franklin Green when I moved down here but ended up buying in Fieldstone Farms. I just liked the location better. Up Hillsboro to Green Hill Mall, Trader Joes. Over the hill to Cool Springs Mall and probably the same distance from downtown Franklin as Franklin Green. Also, the Franklin Trolley comes to the Publix over here which is fun AND helpful! Similar floorplans but a bigger development. There's a bookclub, coffee group, exercise, walking, pool, tennis. I think the bigger the complex, the more chances for something to get involved with, if one so desires. There's also an over 55 area and some one story floor plans.

So, I guess I can't really comment about Franklin Green except to say look at Fieldstone Farms, too!

My husband and I looked at Forest Crossing last summer, while considering retirement in a few years. We loved one house we saw and really liked that area. Also very close to the Franklin YMCA. I keep looking at real estate available there, not many houses for sale these days. Maybe it will pick up in the spring.

These have all been mentioned - but I agree with the Fieldstone Farms seniors area, Westhaven and Willow Springs. One word of caution about Forrest Crossing -is that it is a nice neighborhood, but that section of Franklin is so trafficky! If you want easy access to Vandy, then I would look on the North/West side of Frankin.
