Hello everyone,

We are relocating to the Nashville area this summer, and I am wondering about the school systems. I have 3 kids, 1 going to 2nd, 1 to 6th, and one starting high school. I will be working at Oprymills, and am looking for my commute to be 45 minutes or less, if at all possible. We would rather stay in a smaller city/country setting.

Any school or city suggestions would be great. (Low crime is always nice too)

Williamson, Sumner, and Wilson counties all have good school systems and communities that offer a less than 45 minute commute. What is your price range?

For Williamson, I'd look towards Nolensville. Depending on your comfort for commute you can probably due most of Williamson County. I live on the western side of Franklin and can get to the airport generally in 40 minutes or less. I wouldn't live in Spring Hill though as the traffic on 65 S is a nightmare right now.

With you looking for good schools, a "small city/country setting," and working at Opry Mills, I would suggest somewhere outside of Mount Juliet in Wilson County. Mount Juliet is a good sized town (around 25,000 people), but it's a bit smaller than, say, Franklin or Hendersonville. It's mostly residential, but does have some commercial areas out by the interstate, and up the main drag.

I like Nolensville...but to me it seems a little more isolated since it's a good little trip from the interstate. It would still be an option, though.

The schools in Robertson County don't have the same reputation as most of the other suburban counties...but "small town/country" screams Greebrier, Ridgetop, and Millersville.

McGavock High School Profile

In the opry mills area you may want to compare with McGavock. Just about across Briley from the Opry Hotel.

White House might be a good choice. White House is zoned for Sumner County Schools and fits the small town idea I think. Plus it is very close to I-65 and would be about a 35-40 minute commute to Opry Mills depending on traffic.

That said, I agree that Wilson County/Mt. Juliet would be a better option probably. It certainly would be closer to work for you and generally fits what you want in a small town...though it still has lots of shopping and restaurants in the Providence area. Sort of best of both worlds I think.

Best of luck.

I would recommend Hendersonville. A decent commute to Opryland, with great schools.
