I would say try for the Applebees in the Nippers Corner neighborhood of South Nashville. It is pretty nice. It has lots of apartments nearby and is very close to more fun stuff for singles.

You can check this site for samples of apartments in your price range (I bumped it to $900) in the nearby neighborhood. Focus on the ones in the very middle of the area between I-65 and I-24.

The Applebee's at Nippors corner is good. There are apartments in the area in your price range and Lower. Someone I know just rented an apt in Bradford woods, its dated inside, but nice complex. A 1 Bedroom is at $600 a month. Lots of young people live there because of the low rent. Bradford Woods, Apartments Nashville TN That Applebees is not far from I-65
There are Applebees in Murfreesboro, where the rents are lower. Its a good sized city outside of Nashville, and has a large college crowd. My son has a 2 bedroom 2 bath in one of the really nice complexes for $740 a month.

There's also one in Berry Hill, which is closer to downtown than Nippers Corner. I don't know what the rentals are like in the Berry Hill area, but if you could work there and live nearby you'll be closer to the heart of Nashville.

The difference between Nashville and Binghamton is like night and day. Nashville has the college crowd not just from Vanderbilt, but several other colleges, whereas Binghamton just has SUNY and a community college. But Nashville offers so much more than just stuff for college students.

We moved from Orange County, NY a couple of years ago. People are generally friendly ... definately friendlier ... and winters are much friendlier! If you enjoy clubs, there are many ... and being a country music fan is not required... it's Music City .. meaning there are venues for all types of music. There is plenty of young, urban night life. Bellevue & East Nashville are areas where you could find rentals in that price range ...
