I used to live in Nashville back in the late 90's for about 3 years, then I moved back to Florida (Orlando) for about 11 years, and after this I moved back to Nashville, and have been here for 3 years this time around. I remember Nashville being a lot different back in the late 90's. East Nashville was not the same area as it is now. I remember dropping co-workers/friends back home over there back then and it wasn't too nice back then in that area. I also remember Rockettown being in Cool Springs and not downtown Nashville back then. I remember a lot more strip clubs back then around town. I remember people used to cruise downtown Friday and Saturday nights and now they don't allow people to do that anymore. The one thing I was just thinking of tonight was how I remembered there being whorehouses along Nolensville near downtown back then, but I don't see them anymore.

I remember me and some buddies back then were heading downtown one night on Nolensville and we saw a few whorehouses along the way. We knew they were whorehouses because these chicks were waving at us as we drove by these places. We were young and curious, so we made a u-turn and actually went into one of these places, asked the guy how much for this and that ect...then we declined because we were just seeing what was up with the place. We didn't really want to enter in and catch a disease or anything, but the girls were all over us as we were talking to the dude, but we heard the prices and saw what we needed to see and then left. It was kind of fun actually as I think back on it.

Just wondering what ever happened to those brothels near downtown? Anyone else remember driving by places like that or remember any of the things I mentioned about Nashville back in those days?

One other thing I remember back in the late 90's about Nashville was how the local news stations seemed way behind to me, like a culture shock or something. I had just moved from Miami and never saw so many white people in my life when I first moved up here back then. My brother would always get rude stares from people in those days because of his gold teeth and dreadlocks which was a normal thing in our neighborhood back in Miami. But I remember the news up here seeming like it was stuck in the past, at least that was my perception back then. I moved back here this time from Orlando and the local news this time around seemed not to miss a beat compared to other cities I've been to since my last stint in Nashville. I guess the internet has a lot to do with cities keeping up with the times nowadays because I would say the local news in Nashville does feel up to speed this time around. I just remember back in the 90's how it seeemed the graphics, anchors, some of the stories ect..seemed way behind compared to what the local Miami/Ft. Lauderdale news looked like back then. Funny how times change like that.

I'd say comparing Miami of the 90s and Nashville of the 90s would be kinda like apples and oranges, both good, just different.
