I am trying to plan a bachelor party for a buddy getting married and we are coming to Nashville APril 25th-27th and looking for some ideas of what to do and where to stay.

All the guys are beer drinking guys that would be rather throw some darts and play some pool then go to a club.

There will be about 10 guys from 28-35.

The most central place to drink without driving would be the district downtown (2nd Avenue and Broadway). 2nd Avenue has a lot of bars...Buffalo Billiards would be a good place to hang for awhile. I think McFadden's has darts and is also on 2nd Ave. Broadway is honky tonk central and is often the first place people think of when they think of live music in Nashville. These aren't "clubs", more like beer halls with live country music. Robert's is a popular spot and generally has high quality music in there. Tootsie's is probably the best known and is legendary. In between the honky tonks are a number of sports bars, restaurants, BBQ joints, and plenty of tourist trap stores. The entire district is hopping on Friday and Saturday nights.

Further up on Broadway (and not quite in the District) is the Flying Saucer. It is a great bar located behind the Union Station Hotel. They have 70-80 beers on tap and an extensive bottle selection as well. While they're a regional chain, its definitely worth checking out for a beer lover.

Likewise, I'd recommend spending some time in one (or more) local breweries. Yazoo is probably the best known and it is located in the Gulch area (910 Division St). Good taproom and a decent tour. Always popular for bachelor parties, but you'll want to get tickets for a brewery tour. Nearby is Jackalope Brewery which is not as established as Yazoo, but I think has as good or better beers. It's not really within walking distance, but it's only about a 5-7 minute drive. In fact, the Gulch area would be a place to explore...far more refined and less touristy than the District. It's more where young professionals go to eat, drink, and live. Good BBQ can be found at Peg Leg Porker nearby Yazoo.

The Hillsboro Village/West End/Vanderbilt area is worth checking out too. Hillsboro Village is a collection of restaurants, pubs, stores that is adjacent to Vanderbilt University and very walkable. The Pancake Pantry is a local staple and a good place to recuperate the morning after...just be prepared for lines out the door. Likewise the West End Avenue area of town (also near Vanderbilt) has a lot of restaurants, hotels, and some nightlife, but it is not very walkable.

Other things to consider might be to check out a Vanderbilt Baseball game (they play Georgia that weekend) or trek over to Greer Stadium to see our AAA Affiliate of the Brewers (Nashville Sounds) play. Greer Stadium isn't the most picturesque park and the team is moving to a new facility in the next 2 years, but it's minor league baseball. If the Predators make the playoffs (not likely at this point, but maybe they'll go on a month long winning streak) there's the possibility of playoff hockey that weekend at the Bridgestone Arena on Broadway.

Nashville has MANY great restaurants as well, from traditional meat and threes to steakhouses to more sophisticated cuisine. Most will accomodate larger groups, but you'd want to call ahead first...especially for the nicer restaurants.

As far as where to stay...there are numerous hotels downtown and several beautiful new hotels south of Broadway near the new Music City Center. Likewise you'll find lots of hotels within walking distance of the District but they tend to be fairly pricey. Personally, that's where I would try to stay despite the price. You don't want to be driving a whole lot and this would give you plenty of access to just about the only walkable part of Nashville. There are also plenty of cabs in this area (the Gulch too) so you could venure out very easily while also enjoying alcohol.

A word of caution, Metro Nashville Police is very proactive with DUI enforcement. Drinking and driving is really a bad idea around here, so have a DD, or a cab service available, that's the best way to enjoy your bachelor party experience here.

Let us know if there are other things that interest you and we can steer you in that direction too.

Flying Saucer also has two pool tables in the side room.

Yazoo, Jakalope and also Tennessee Brew Works are all walking distance to each other. Throw in Pour House in that area too. Also in the more immediate Gulch (11th/12th) is The Pub. And Hops and something or other.

Actually, park below Flying Saucer in the big lot and you could walk FS - TN BW - Jak - PH - Yaz - The Pub and back to FS with no trouble. Or, there is a Holiday Inn Express (?) close to the Saucer.
