I'm old enough to remember when you couldn't get any ethnic food in grocery stores in Nashville. I'd never heard of salsa (the sauce, not the dance) until I went to college out west. My, how times have changed! Here's an interesting article in the Tennessean about the growing variety of ethnic restaurants in Nashville. Anyone who thinks that Nashville is just BBQ and hot chicken needs to drive down Nolensville Road.

I'd love to hear from the rest of you about what your favorite ethnic restaurants are in Nashville.

Nashville has growing appetite for ethnic food

I'm still looking for a decent Hunan place. And decent Northern Italian.

Lucky Bamboo out on Charlotte has hot pot, which is nice, especially in the cold weather.
Epice is fantastic.
For Thai - still looking for amazing. Smiling Elephant is fine. Thai Esane - maybe I hit it on a bad night, but we didn't like it. There is a small hole in the wall place off Harding that's fine.
Mexican - kind of a mixed bag. Mas Tacos is great, but often too crowded. I hear that the taco truck that parks at 12th/Wedgewood is really good. I need to go try it out.

I still remember the "new york city!" Pase commercials from back in the day as well. When salsa was new.

I agree, Nashville has changed in its tastes. There has always been a high asian food presences there though, even back when I lived there in the late 90's.

Yeah...I read that review a few weeks ago and it sounds promising.

I'd also like to try Ethiopian cuisine. There's an Ethiopian restaurant in the Arcade I've been meaning to try for a few months now but just can't to remember it when I'm in the mood for something new.

The place in the Arcade is owned by the folks at Mesob (Antioch) and it's not bad. Gojo is not bad either. I would actually like to venture outside the 440 and try Mesob.
