Looking to relocate. Not big city kind of people. We ( my husband and I ) were looking at Murfreesboro and have heard great things. I was also wanting to get some inside information on Walterhill I know its a great deal smaller. Is it seperated from Murfreesboro? Type of neighborhoods? Schools? People? Cost of living ? Thank you soo much to all who reply.

Walterhill is just north of Murfreesboro in Rutherford County. I guess it's a technically separate (maybe unicorporated???), but it's only about 3-5 minutes from the Memoral/Thompson Lane intersection, so it's not thatfar out. I would describe it asthe immediate area where US-231 intersects with TN-266/Jefferson Pike.

It's a really small area served by a rural K-8 school (with great teachers). There are some generic subdivisions out there that are affordable and other types of homes as well. The cost of living should be the same as Murfreesboro, with the exception that the average home sales price in this area is a little smaller, unless the data is skewed by a few expensive houses.

Thank you so much for replying so quickly. What about renting a house or an apartment (3 bedroom) before looking to buy a home is that something that would be easily done? And what are some newspaper names that I would be able to look up on the web to look now? I really do appreciate this help you have no idea.

I'm not sure on the amount of rentals in the Walterhill area, but there are plenty in Murfreesboro to be found in all kinds of price ranges.

The Daily News Journal is the Murfreesboro newspaper and The Tennessean is the paper out of Nashville. Both should have some listings, as should Craigslist.
